When most people think of the flu, they think of coughing, sneezing, runny noses and sore throats; that’s why Ochsner Health System has made changes to its mask policy due to an increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Louisiana. Starting this month, all employees at the Baton Rouge facility will be required to wear N95 masks when having contact with patients during flu season.

New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System has announced that effective immediately, all employees will be required to wear N95 masks at all times while on the job. This policy change comes after a recent spike in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Louisiana, which has already caused one death and several hospitalizations in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. While Ochsner is taking every precaution necessary to protect our patients and staff from this deadly virus, we understand that many of our employees may have concerns about the new mask mandate, said Ochsner spokesperson John LeBasque in an official statement announcing the change.
